The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has described the P-BAT Door-to-Door Movement as the most coordinated grassroots group mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Diri stated this through his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia, at an expanded stakeholders meeting of the movement held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
According to Cocodia, Bayelsa remains an APC state and is firmly in support of President Tinubu. He said the state had registered over 200 support groups, with P-BAT being the biggest.
He urged members to intensify their mobilisation from house to house, comparing their task to that of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Cocodia said funds available to states under the Tinubu administration had allowed governors to execute projects without hindrance, adding that local governments were also better funded.
Speaking, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, said the Ijaw nation had collectively adopted Tinubu for 2027.
Ogbuku said, “No Ijaw son is contesting the Presidency, but we have decided to adopt President Tinubu. Ethnicity is a reality in Nigerian politics that we cannot pretend away.”
He said the movement was founded by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to show Ijaw commitment to Tinubu’s re-election.
The National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Asuku, praised Tompolo and said the administration’s bold reforms, including subsidy removal, must be consolidated through votes in 2027.
Also, the Zonal Coordinator, Pastor Reuben Wilson, said, “If you go to our fishing settlements, you will see light everywhere through the NDDC. Light is life. Bayelsa has no reason not to support Mr President.”
