Member of the House of Representatives for Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency and Social Democratic Party, SDP, candidate for Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Hon. Marie Enenimiete Ebikake, has called for unity and patriotism as Nigeria marks 66th Independence anniversary and Bayelsa 30 years of statehood.
In a goodwill message on Thursday, Ebikake said the twin milestones offer an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, honour heroes and founding fathers, and renew commitment to a prosperous and peaceful society.
She observed that since Bayelsa was created on October 1, 1996, the state has made progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports, tourism, public utilities and other sectors.
Ebikake commended the Renewed Prosperity Administration for projects improving lives, citing the completed 60-megawatt gas turbine power plant at Elebele, which will boost businesses and job creation, and the ongoing 30,000-capacity multipurpose international stadium at Igbogene.
She also lauded the relative peace and stability in the state, noting that peace provides an enabling environment for government programmes and investments to thrive.
The lawmaker urged Bayelsans to promote dialogue, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, embrace patriotism and responsible citizenship, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
She congratulated Bayelsans on 30 years of statehood and Nigerians on 66 years of independence, calling for sustained efforts to build a nation future generations will be proud of.
