The Southern Ijaw Local Government Area chapter of the United Front for Douye Diri Successor has thrown its weight behind the All Progressives Congress standard-bearer for Southern Ijaw Constituency 1, Hon. Coronation Tokpo, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Coordinator of the chapter, Mr Osunu Henry, who led members on a courtesy visit to Tokpo on Thursday, said the movement decided to support the lawmaker hopeful because he represents progressive leadership.

He said, “Yesterday as the Coordinator of the SILGA chapter of the most formidable and grassroots-driven political movement in Bayelsa State, the UFDDS, I led members of our chapter on a strategic courtesy visit to Hon. Coronation Tokpo.

“During the visit, we formally declared our support for his candidature ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming our commitment to working with progressive leaders who share in the vision of good governance.”

Henry also briefed Tokpo on its proposed 10,000-man march tagged Operation Show Your PVC, a sensitisation programme scheduled to hold on October 31, 2026, to mobilise voters across the LGA.

He added that the movement would engage other APC candidates in the area and called on flag bearers to collaborate with the group.

The group presented a branded OGBOIN UFDDS cap to Tokpo and conferred patronship on him.

It also passed a vote of confidence in Governor Douye Diri.

Henry thanked the Director-General of the UFDDS, High Chief Timothy Itiedu, for his leadership.
