The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced the fifth edition of its Corporate Communications Book Reading Programme, featuring writer, journalist and strategic communicator, Paul C. Nwabuikwu.
The session, slated for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, will spotlight Nwabuikwu’s latest work, The Pain and the Promise: Insights and Fragments on Nigeria and People, Public and Personal.
In a statement issued yesterday by the General Manager, Corporate Communications Division, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, the Board said the programme underscores its sustained commitment to literacy, critical thought and knowledge exchange through engagement with leading Nigerian authors and public intellectuals.
The book, which aggregates writings spanning more than 30 years, offers reflections on Nigeria, its people, politics, economics, public policy and the evolving character of the society. It links major national developments and policy choices with the lived realities of ordinary Nigerians.
According to the statement, the reading session will provide a forum for robust engagement with the author on questions of leadership, governance, public policy and the human narratives that underpin Nigeria’s past and present.
Nwabuikwu brings to the conversation a career that traverses journalism, public policy, advertising and strategic communications. Having started his journalism career in 1988, he has worked with some of Nigeria’s foremost media houses, including Newswatch, THISDAY and The Guardian.
He also served as Special Assistant on Communications to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala during her two stints as Minister of Finance and Head of the Economic Management Team, an experience that afforded him broad insights into the nexus between policy, institutions and communication.
The Pain and the Promise has drawn commendations from eminent personalities. At its public presentation in Abuja, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala; former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka; and Vice Chancellor of Baze University, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, lauded it as a significant addition to Nigeria’s intellectual and public policy literature.
Ezeobi said the NCDMB Corporate Communications Book Reading initiative is designed to support Nigerian authors and foster a knowledge-based society. He added that the forthcoming edition builds on previous conversations in the series.
The last two editions featured His Royal Majesty, King Bubaraye Dakolo, who discussed Pirates of the Gulf, and former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, author of Leading in a Storm.
