2027:Jonathan lauds Bayelsa East APC candidates, says they have capacity

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the quality and experience of All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates contesting the 2027 general elections in Bayelsa East Senatorial District.

Jonathan gave the commendation when he received a delegation of APC leaders and candidates at his residence in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The delegation was led by former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (retd), Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku and the state Chairman of APC, Rt. Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba.

Speaking during the visit, Rear Admiral Jonah said the delegation was at Jonathan’s residence to formally present the candidates to him as a mark of respect, being a former President and prominent leader from Bayelsa East.

He appealed to the former President to extend his goodwill and support to the candidates, describing them as persons with capacity, experience and character to provide effective representation.

Candidates presented were HRH Hon. Israel Sunny-Goli for Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite for Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency and Barr. Jude Amidator Rex-Ogbuku for Ogbia Federal Constituency.

Others were Hon. Oteigbanyo George Braah, Nembe Constituency 1; Hon. Edward Brigidi Irigha, Nembe Constituency 2; Hon. Alalibo West, Nembe Constituency 3; Hon. Daniel Charles, Brass Constituency 1; Hon. Timi Agala, Brass Constituency 2 and Rt. Hon. Abraham Ngobere, Brass Constituency 3.

Also presented were Hon. High Chief Ebiango Okoba Egain, Ogbia Constituency 1; Hon. Godknows Obein, Ogbia Constituency 2 and Hon. Chief Gabriel Michael Ogbara, Ogbia Constituency 3.

In his response, Jonathan said virtually all the candidates were persons who could be trusted in terms of capacity, performance and experience.

He gave them his blessings and urged them to see politics as a platform to improve society and attract development to their constituencies.

The former President also charged them to sustain peace, unity and oneness in Bayelsa State for continued development.

The meeting had in attendance APC leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives and stakeholders from Brass, Nembe and Ogbia Local Government Areas.
