Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, has called for calm and removal of road blockades following protest by Biseni community in Yenagoa local government area of the state.
CP Adewale made the call on Friday, 3rd October, 2026, when he visited Biseni community alongside the Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Council, Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari.
NAIJA NEWS SPANK gathered that elderly women and youths of the oil-producing community had blocked the road to protest lack of basic amenities and poor living conditions, lamenting years of underdevelopment and neglect despite the natural resources in their domain.
The blockade prevented free flow of traffic and movement of other road users.
Addressing the protesters, CP Ajao listened to their concerns and appealed to them to reopen the road while assuring that their demands would be taken up with the state government and other relevant stakeholders.
He said the Command would support peaceful engagement towards amicable resolution of the issues.
The CP cautioned against actions capable of endangering lives or undermining public peace and urged the protesters to pursue their demands through dialogue.
He reminded them that only the living can enjoy the development they seek for their community.
