The Nigeria Democratic Congress has set up a seven-member National Reconciliation Committee to engage aspirants and resolve grievances arising from its recent primary elections.
The decision was contained in a statement jointly signed by the National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, and released by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.
According to the statement, the committee is mandated to meet all aspirants across the country to settle outstanding issues and strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A renowned political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, will chair the committee, while a veteran politician, Buba Galadima, will serve as co-chairman.
Other members are Mohammed Sanni Takori (vice-chairman), Babatunde Alli (secretary), Mrs Dudu Mamman Manuga, Salvador Adegoke Moshood and Alhaji Haruna Pai.
The party also constituted three sub-committees to handle reconciliation in the North, South-South and South-East geopolitical zones.
The statement added that the National Reconciliation Committee would be formally inaugurated at the party’s national secretariat by 12 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
It expressed confidence that the process would resolve internal disagreements, foster unity and consolidate preparations for the forthcoming elections.
