The Youth Leader of Amarata community in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Ogbara Izibeya, has commended Gifted Natus for supporting peace initiatives that have reduced crime in the area.
Izibeya, in a statement on Wednesday in Amarata, described Natus, a producer and social media influencer, as committed to peace-building and grassroots development.
He said Natus’s intervention had inspired residents, reduced crime and improved collaboration between the community and security agencies.
On behalf of the community, he thanked him and prayed for more wisdom and opportunities for him to serve.
The youth leader, however, called on Governor Douye Diri to restore electricity to Amarata, which he said had been in darkness for years.
He said the community hosts the Bayelsa Medical University, the State House of Assembly, banks, filling stations and supermarkets, and needs regular security patrols and patrol vehicles to sustain the peace.
According to him, Amarata, which was once a hotspot for crime, now enjoys relative calm, with residents sleeping with both eyes closed.
Izibeya also appealed to the state government to clear the Epie Creek ahead of the flood season, construct link roads and consider indigenes of the community for appointments in the ASSURED Prosperity administration.
He warned cult groups that previously terrorised the area to vacate the community or face prosecution.
