Police arrest man for stabbing 25-year-old to death in Bauchi

A 25-year-old man, Mohammed Musa, has been stabbed to death during a late-night fight in Bauchi metropolis, with the police arresting a suspect in connection with the incident.

The incident happened around 11pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi.

The Bauchi State Police Command said the victim had an altercation with one Abubakar Abdullahi, popularly known as Dan Iya, before the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed him.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Nafiu Habib, said in a statement on Sunday that operatives from ‘A’ Division, Township, responded to the incident and arrested Abdullahi.

Musa was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor confirmed him dead.

Habib said the weapon allegedly used in the attack had been recovered and kept as an exhibit, while the corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

He added that the suspect is in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and urged residents to avoid violence and report suspicious activities to the police.
