Former players of Bayelsa United Football Club have donated a set of jerseys to the club as part of preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League, NNL, season.

The donation was made by the group under the leadership of a former Chairman of the club, Dr. Ebiki Timitimi, who said the gesture was aimed at supporting the team’s pre-season activities, including friendly matches.

Timitimi said the ex-players remain committed to the growth and development of the club, while urging stakeholders and fans to be constructive in their criticisms of the management.

“As ex-players of the team, we deemed it fit to support the team in our own little way. We decided to give a set of jerseys to the club because very soon they will start their pre-season friendlies.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but we should criticise constructively by engaging the management to hear their side of the story before jumping to conclusions,” he said.

Receiving the jerseys on behalf of the Chairman, Dr. Peter Singabele, and the Management Board, Godson Ekadi described the donation as a show of solidarity and a morale booster for the board, technical crew and players.

Ekadi said the gesture, which is the first major support from stakeholders ahead of the new season, signals a promising start for the club.

“It is a wonderful statement that has been made today by the ex-players. When you get support from your immediate constituency, it means it is going to be a wonderful season for us.

“This is the first gift we are getting from stakeholders and we are calling on others to toe the line of the ex-players. It is like our season has already started,” he said.

He called on corporate organisations, stakeholders and International Oil Companies operating in the state to emulate the ex-players and support the club.
