The police in Oyo State have arrested a serving personnel of the Nigerian Air Force for alleged armed robbery and abduction in Ibadan.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives on September 17 following investigations into the incident, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.
A blue Toyota Camry believed to have been used for the operation was also recovered by the police.
The arrest was listed among the operational successes recorded by the Oyo State Police Command in the Force’s state-by-state executive summary released on Sunday.
In a separate operation, the police arrested three suspected members and associates of a kidnapping syndicate in the state.
The arrests followed intelligence received by the police on September 18. One of the suspects was apprehended at Kanbi Village in Atisbo Local Government Area, while two others were arrested for allegedly providing cover for the syndicate.
The police said investigations into the cases are being conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ibadan.
The identities of the suspects and details of the alleged robbery, abduction and kidnapping incidents were not disclosed by the Force.
The arrests form part of ongoing police operations aimed at curbing violent crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery, across the country.
