The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Bayelsa State, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe, has been reappointed as Co-Chairman of the National Emergency Medical Treatment Committee (NEMTC).
The reappointment was announced by the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The reappointment is a significant recognition of Prof. Brisibe’s exceptional leadership, commitment and relentless efforts towards transforming emergency medical services and strengthening healthcare systems in Nigeria.
His sustained contribution to improving emergency care and ensuring timely access to life-saving medical services has earned commendation both within Bayelsa State and at the national level.
The reappointment further underscores his dedication to advancing a more responsive, efficient and resilient emergency medical system that prioritises increasing the life expectancy of all residents of Bayelsa State.
Prof. Brisibe, in his reaction, thanked the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, and the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare for finding him worthy to serve again, while also commending the governor’s efforts in developing the state’s health sector for the benefit of all Bayelsans.
