The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, High Chief Alabh Turnah, has donated N5m to Closer TV in Yenagoa.
Turnah, who made the donation on Monday during a visit to the corporate headquarters of the media organisation, said the gesture was part of his commitment to youth development and the growth of indigenous media in the state.
He called on the Bayelsa State Government to support indigenous media houses, noting that they play a critical role in promoting development and giving voice to the people.
The PDP chairman said his visit gave him first-hand insight into the facilities and capacity of Closer TV, adding that the station has what it takes to compete globally.
He commended the Chief Executive Officer of Closer TV, Mr Ogbomade Itutumeni, for his consistency and hard work, and lauded the organisation for maintaining an apolitical stance in its operations.
Responding, Itutumeni thanked Turnah for the visit and donation, describing it as a major boost to the organisation’s vision.
He appealed to government agencies, corporate organisations and public-spirited individuals to support Closer TV to enable it expand its operations.
