The Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Bayelsa State, Mr Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, has urged corps members to embrace entrepreneurship and turn the skills they have acquired into sustainable businesses.

Pepple said corps members must see themselves as job creators in the face of limited paid employment.

He spoke on Friday, 16th October, 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in-camp training for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town.

According to him, financial independence demands creativity, hard work and determination.

He urged the corps members to take advantage of the post-camp training and strive to become employers of labour.

The Camp Director, Sir Raymond Anumaka Kennedy, said the six-day training was organised to expose corps members to entrepreneurship and practical skills.

He said affordable post-camp training opportunities had been put in place to help them deepen their chosen skills.

The event featured competitions in barbering, makeup artistry, fashion design, cosmetology, catering and leather works, where corps members showcased what they learnt.

Outstanding participants went home with prizes.

The programme ended with a call on corps members to build on the skills learnt in camp, embrace digital and Artificial Intelligence training and take deliberate steps to create sustainable businesses and jobs after the service year.
