Bayelsa United have congratulated their Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, and the Flying Eagles for reaching the final of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr Peter Singabele, the club said the feat was proof of Maikaba’s experience, tactical discipline and commitment to youth development.
The management board said the coach’s success at the continental level had reflected positively on the Prosperity Boys.
The club also commended the national U-20 side for their determination, resilience and team spirit throughout the tournament, describing their qualification for the final as a proud moment for Nigerian football.
The board expressed confidence that the Flying Eagles would go on to win the WAFU B title and secure a place in the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
It noted that Maikaba’s impressive outing with the national team had reinforced its decision to appoint him as Technical Adviser ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League season.
The Yenagoa-based side wished the coach, his technical crew and the Flying Eagles squad success in the final, urging them to stay focused in their quest to bring the trophy home.
Maikaba, who was recently unveiled as Bayelsa United Technical Adviser, is combining his role at the club with his position as Flying Eagles head coach.
